Re: Weather loaches not getting bigger
I have never seen the loaches swim up to the top; I keep the water level pretty close to the very top of the tank with every waterchange. I buy the airstones at Walmart since this is the only store in our small town that carries fish/aquarium supplies. The next petshop is 50 miles away. I guess I co...

Re: Weather loaches not getting bigger
I am using "Spring Water" (bottled) since we have our own well water which is kind of salty. PH level is ok ... and they have plenty of hiding spaces. They really do not seem to be sickly, just hiding out all the time (when I'm in the room) and small in size. I will lower the temperature. I agree th...

Re: Weather loaches not getting bigger
Thanks so much for your reply. No, I never thought of it. They have been in the same tank for over 2 years. There are no other fish in the tank. Can you recommend a "medicine" for loaches to treat a possible infection?

Weather loaches not getting bigger
For the past 2.5 yrs, my 2 weather loaches have been in a 30 gal. tank - BUT they do not seem to be getting any larger! They appear to be healthy, and I feed them gold fish flakes, shrimp pellets and bottom feeder pellets. Water perimeters are all fine and the temp is around 72 degrees. For water ch...

the loaches were sort of a "rescue" from our Walmart .... long story. They were in same tank at the store; it was only after reading more about them (after the rescue) that I found out about temp. differences in species. They lived in that temperature over a year now -- some websites suggested they ...

Question on food and water temperature
I have one kuhli loach and 2 weather loaches in my 30 gallon aquarium. No other fish. I've had them for over a year, but I still question if I do everything alright!! I keep the water temp between 80-82 degrees to accomodate both species since I read one likes it cooler and the others warmer. Is tha...

It is my goldfish that has symptoms of fin-rot. (I've had one goldfish and the 3 loache in same tank for over a year). I do the water-changes once a week and even use bottled springwater. I ajust the water temperature of new water to the tankwater. I use water-treatment. Lately, the Nitrate level wa...

Can I use "Maracyn-Two" (by Mardel) with Loaches i
I have a 30 gal aquarium and saw that my fish has fin-rot. I have medicine (Maracyn-Two by Mardel) and would like to treat it. However, I also have 3 loaches (kuli & do-jo) in that tank and don't want to harm them with medication. The back of the box does not indicate any warnings, but I figure I ch...

I keep the water temperature around 74-75 degrees which seems to be ok for all of them. Thanks for the suggestions - I will make a trip to Petsmart (about 50 miles away) tomorrow & get some more loach food as well as some more "hiding places" (Walmart only has limited selections). My goldfish actual...

Feeding
It's a total of 3 loaches - 2 weather and 1 khuli loach; then just one goldfish in same tank. He's the problem with feeding the loaches anything else but flakes because he eats EVERYTHING. The loaches stay inside their "homes" most of the daytime ... so I try to find food that they like and that wil...

Feeding Questions
For over 6 months I've had one goldfish and 3 loaches (khuli & dojo) in a 30 gal tank. Usually I feed the goldfish flakes and the loaches get the leftover flakes.... so I hope. My goldfish is a "pig" when it comes to eating and I never know just how much the little ones get. So, I bought the Algae W...

Actually, I also disliked the idea for "starter fish" for the reasons you mentioned! I did a fishless cycle in my other 30 gal tank last year (has goldfish in it). It took me approx 4 weeks to complete the cycle, but it was worth it. With this new 30 gal. tank I will transfer rocks, decor, filter, e...

What kind of "starter fish" for new loach aquarium
In my previous post about upgrading from my small to a larger tank, the suggestion was made the place a few "starter fish" in the new one to get the cycle going before adding my loaches.
What kind of fish would be good to get (right now I have 4 loaches, and the new tank is 30 gal.).

Dojos with Goldfish maybe??
Thanks for all the info. Already used some of your advice to prepare the new tank. As far as the temps for dojos & khuli - I went thru several sources and was given the acceptable ranges (Dojo 60 - 75 deg. and Khuli 72 - 78 deg) - so I kept the temp at a compromise of 75 deg. - and it seems to have ...

Thanks!
Thanks for the help - it REALLY helped me out. When you say "several days". does that mean like 2 or 3 days?
