Thanks for your reply Emma! I can't thank you enough for telling me about the Poly Filter, at the very least, it has given me the clearest water I've ever had... and I thought I had pretty clear water. Luckily my husband also picked up some phosphate removing media while at the LFS yesterday so I've...

I had my husband stop by our local LFS on his way home from work and pick up the Poly Filter as well as a phosphate test kit. The AFI kit says my phosphates are at 5.0. I immediately put the Poly Filter in my filtration system. The 7 small clowns and other fish continue to act normally. The big guy ...

Thanks for the reply Emma! No, I have not checked with API to see if it is safe for 'scale-less' fish. I will look on their website and try and to look for a customer service number. What is a Polyfilter? Can you recommend a brand? Not sure what the phosphate level is at right now. I do not have tes...

Help!

Hi everyone, I'm a bit concerned about one of my clown loaches. Before leaving for a 3 day trip, I noticed a bit of an algea problem but decided to take care of it when I got back since it was time for a water change. All the readings were fine when I left and were the same when i got back: Ammonia:...

Just thought I'd add my two cents... I've also noticed that my clowns will fight for one of the algea waffers even when there is more than one at the bottom of the tank. It's like they prefer to fight for the food. I'm glad Linarite posted this because I've noticed that 2 of my 8 clowns are becoming...

They were advertising that at PetCo the last time I visited. It said that fish liked playing with the lasers and to ask for a demonstration. I didn't believe it but I guess you just confirmed it. Can't wait to see the video :D

Thanks Kate! I thought they needed some time before trying the veggie and shrimp thing but it looks like they're ready for it. I showed my husband some of the videos on YouTube and he is really looking forward to someday hand feeding these guys. He bought the veggie clip a while back hoping I'd let ...

Thanks everyone! I love these little guys.

Even though I know they like sleeping like that, I have to admit that I wondered if he was alive when I took that last picture.

Thanks LoachOrgy! Guess I'll need to learn to resist their cute little antics. It does look like they finish the food in about 10 min. I usually check to make sure there's nothing left. I did notice some algea buildup on the glass but it was time for my tank cleanup/water change so I didn't think an...

Am I Overfeeding/Underfeeding My Clowns?

Hi everyone, As some of you might remember, up until a few months ago, I've only owned one clown loach, a cory cat, a cherry barb, an unknown fish, and a long finned danio. I have slowly increased my clown population to 8 and I think they are doing wonderfully :D . My largest loach is maybe 5 inches...

Thanks for your suggestions Emma and Diana! I just purchased a 50/50 bulb for my aquarium since none of the fish liked the bright light that came with the lids. While it's softer, they still don't like it but I'm trying to introduce them to it slowly. The fish are a lot more active if I just keep th...

Need Tank Mate Suggestions

Hi everyone, An intro... In the past 5 years I have moved from a 20 gallon tank to a 30 gallon to my new endeavor the 55 gallon tank. I inherited the 20 gallon tank from a friend along with one clown loach, 3 cherry barbs, a cory cat, and a pleco. A few years later, my brother dropped 4 unknown fish...
