Yesterday I got one of my kuhli loaches to eat from my hand, something I didn't expect from them.
I saw one coming to the surface so I gently reach out my pinched fingers lowering some bloodworms to the water..To my surprise the kuhli came over and nibbled.

kuhli issues.
Sadly just after I post an all is well post...On of my loaches was found gasping for air again this morning. The loach seems on the thin side, breathing heavily and otherwise no signs of disease. They all made it so far so I thought they were out of the wood by now and going to survive. I have put t...

Update on my kuhli loaches.
I had an accident when I moved them a while back.. One was hiding in the plant roots and fell on the floor. So I had this tiny kuhli writhing on the floor. I tossed on some water so the kuhli would be sitting in a puddle..Then I didn't know what to do. Too small for me to grasp...teh rim of a net wo...

I'm thinking that now I'll just have kuhlis and shrimp and one betta in the tank. Does anyone have opinions on just one betta? The kuhlis seem so much more active now that the danios are gone. I'd hate to mess that up. Thanks.[/quote] My current setup is kuhli loaches and a betta/. Bettas are happie...

Nice story...Get those 55s out of storage!. I'm not particularly a loach fan myself. I wanted to pick a fish to live in my small heavily planted apartment tank and after much thinking remembered a kuhli loach we used to have in a family tank that was incredibly hardy and cute. I was excited to keep ...

Ok...But I'm expecting another inspection some time next week and supposed to only have one tank setup with fish. They havn't seen the thirty gal yet so crossing my fingers and I'd be way too nervious to setup a third tank. So maybe I'll transfer them to a new tank after inspection is over. It'd cer...

Can kuhli loaches live in a two gal tank temp?.
Ok...Got three new loaches, but figured if I release them into the tank I intended for quarantine..I'll lose track of them again. Both of my tanks are planted. So change of plans. So I'm thinking I'll keep them in a two gal tank/ float that in the twenty gal with an airstone and then release them af...

And if they keep dying off...the entire surviving group will find themselves on craiglist finding a new home and I will get bristlenose plecos instead. I like the loaches, but it's just taking too much time toruble-shooting with their mysterious ailments and all and I need to get back to serious wor...

Ok...I took out my plants and caught the other two loaches. It was eaiser then I thought since it's one big mess of roots and I just lifted the bundle out..Did spill some water on my desk. I put the two loaches in a one gal tank for a few minutes floating in the thirty gal. Then when I released them...

Well at least I know then. I'm getting the feeling loaches are very sensitive to being moved,if they flake out like that. The other two are still giving me the slip and now I'll have to float them in the new tank since I've added new water water. I have only to dip the net in the water and they burr...

Kuhli loach unhappy in new tank?
I moved on kuhli loach over yesterday to new setup( thirty half filled)..Old gravel, mostly their old water and old sponge filter so no new tank syndrome. I meant to move all three and couldn't catch them/ they are hiding in my plants and making themselves sparse because everytime I'm there I try to...

Hi Playfulloach, When you say heavily planted, do you mean really heavily planted? If so, do you run some means of oxygenation (air pump etc) for the fish overnight? Emma Yes, it was. when I picked fish, I figured kuhli loaches would enjoy a tank like that and it did seem like they did, since I saw...

Ok...a few typos/missed words in my last post. I'm southern VT, USA. No other animals besides three mice in a tank. How high do loaches jump?. My tank is covered with a sheet of plexiglass. I have only found one of the dead loaches. Only signs of illness were gasping for breath and keeling over dead...
