Well, the one dojo didn't make it...he almost looked like he had a slimy substance on him, possibly a fungal infection. I started the other two on Maracide and Maroxy on Tuesday. I perform a water change everyday using 2/3 of the replacement water from the main tank and 1/3 fresh water with stress c...

Not to keep posting over and over but I was looking at my fish just a minute ago and I am starting to notice more gill movement on the other two fish and what appears to be ich. I am seriously starting to wonder if all this gill movement is gill flukes?! Should I start treatment? I have Ich Guard II...

I have never seen the striped pangio kuhli at any of my LFS...just the black Kuhli's. Originally I wanted the striped, but when I found the black kuhli's they were too cute to pass up. Recently I fed them some blanched zuccini and they went absolutely crazy over it. There was a pile of them all figh...

Tonight I changed out 25% of the water from the quarantine tank. 2 gallons of that water came from my established tank and the rest from dechlorinated tap water. Two of the fish still look good and the third appears to be declining. He is lying on his side, gills flapping, and I don't even see him t...

I have 4 black kuhli loaches (they really look more brown than anything). Are yours the banded variety? I originally had 5 but one died a few days after purchase. The others have all done very well and are almost double in size. They are all very active, social, food seeking little squirmy worms. I ...

Okay, as of today two of the fish seem calm and happy though still timid. One has started flapping his gills like crazy and has me worried. I know its not ammonia buildup or lack of oxygen because of my tests and that the other two look perfectly normal. What could be going on here? He was the one j...

Did you test the water the fish came in No...I didn't . I thought the whole acclimation process was in place to help them adjust to the changes in water conditions/parameters? I usually spend at least an hour acclimating...once temperature acclimation is met I slowly add water every 4-5 minut...

Okay....I have the new fish acclimating as I write this. One is a jumper and has already keeps trying to go airborne :o . I completely salted down the tank, cleaned it, and rinsed it thoroughly. All the old gravel was dumped as was the pump. I purchased a new pump, the Elite Hush 20 HOB, and a new b...

Well, the fish did end up dying. The red/purple marks around his gills and face were extreme. There was a buildup of this white stuff in one gill...making it almost completely non-functional. The water did not having any ammonia and my ph has always been around 7.8. I have never seen something kill ...

Well, upon inspection one of the fish was still alive , though barely. I have since been performing numerous water changes and he has been hanging on. I can see clearly on the dead fish that their gills were red and irritated. His gills are inflamed and now one side is full of whitish stuff and he i...

Well, the fish didn't make it...it all happened so fast I don't know what they died from. This tank is just a 10 gal quarantine I setup for new fish or sick fish. The water was new and fresh other than 2 gallons from my main tank. The rapid gill movement was noticeable the entire time I was acclimat...

New Dojo Loach issues...
Hi all, I recently purchased 3 fairly large dojo/weather loaches (4/5 inches). I currently have a 55 gallon tank that has 3 dojos (2 golden, one grayish) and 4 kuhli loaches. I put the 3 newcomers in a 10 gallon quarantine tank that has a top fin filter and a sponge filter. I put Stress coat in the ...

I've tested my water a couple times and the results don't seem to change. The Ammonia and Nitrites are 0 ppm, Nitrates just over 5 ppm, and my PH seems stable around 7.8. I can test again tonight and see if there have been any changes. I will call around and see if anyone locally has para guard...if...

Do you think switching to another med at this point could cause problems? Someone else had said this could stress my fish further, especially rainbowfish...there is only one left though. I am looking to purchase para guard to keep on hand ...is this a Seachem product? The one I saw online I think wa...

I did the last dose on Saturday for the first 5 day treatment. I lost 4 of my 5 rainbows and one corycat. If you think I need to do another round of treatment should I make it half strength? I am concerned about losing more fish. BTW....Why are Kuhli's hard to keep? Thanks for all your advice...it i...
