Hey Mick! The way you describe the planned furnishing of the tank sounds like a well-suited environment for them. I don't think they require a bigger tank to breed, but their behaviour during the first few days should probably give you an idea of how they feel. If they appear to be very shy and hide...

The spawning happened just as I was leaving the house today, and when I returned home I couldn't see the eggs on the glass anymore. However, there may be more spread around the tank. I don't intend to remove them or anything, I'll just see how this works out the natural way this time :D Besides, the...

Yunnanilus cruciatus spawning
I brought 9 specimens of the lovely Yunnanilus cruciatus home from work a few days ago. They were placed in a 250 l. tank (100*50*50 cm) furnished with a lot of bogwood, finegrained sand, javaferns and javamoss. Along with them I added 2 Hyalobagrus flavus, a few snails and some Cherry-Shrimps. Righ...

Yeah, that's what I thought too...which is abit disturbing if they are in fact as rare as reports suggest. But why use a different name for such a unique species? Or are we actually dealing with 2 different species? Doesn't look like we are, but since I can't find much info on P.pachychilus I wasn't...

Yeah, it sure looks interesting whatever it is. I'm more of a pl*co enthusiast myself, thats why I keep a close eye on that site, among others. With pl*cos, the Japanese sell each individual for a certain price, depending on it's beauty. The more striking, the more expensive they are. Pl*cos, and I'...
