"Rotten"? That's a little harsh. I was just trying to help. I came into this hobby completely with no knowledge and have heard that guideline many different places so thought it may help. I have learned a lot here but have also noticed that the older members are very tight-knit and tend to be harsh ...

The rule I've always seen is 1 inch of fish to each 1 gallon of tank. 5 kuhils at 2 inches = 10 (gallons). Right? My loaches are in groups of four and seem pretty happy. Whatever you do, just never never NEVER keep one alone. And if you ever have to medicate for any reason, be sure to cut the dosage...

I think some Kuhlis would be OK in a 10g. Good tankmates would be danios - you can do Zebra Danios (cheap and hardy), the Glofish (just little neon-colored Danios) or my personal favorite, Pearl Danios. Danios swim mid-to-upper level and would balance out the tank nicely. Get a little school (maybe ...

Thank you for the advice. I had no idea these guys would be soooo tiny (but adorable).

They'll be going in with the danios. :D

Did I make a boo-boo?

Hey all, I have a koi pond with five small koi, three golden dojos and four small cory cats (not sure exactly which kind). I purchased some blue pearl shrimp with the idea of putting them in there but see in other threads that loaches may eat shrimp? Anyone have any insight? I can't put them in my c...

Actually I don't have a digital camera. So 1990s, I know. They are definitely golden dojos - I've kept dojos for years. The smallest one is about 2 1/2 inches long, the next bigger one is about 3 and the biggest with the three orange spots on his back is about 3 1/2. They're still hiding most of the...

Any loachers in Texas?

I found the BEST deal yesterday I wanted to share with you all. I went to Water Garden Gems http://www.watergardengems.com , right off I-10 about 15 miles east of San Antonio and found Golden Dojos 3 for $10!!! It is a huge beautiful place with goldfish, koi ($1,000 koi even!) and water plants and p...

Not to mention complaining again about the deplorable conditions of the tanks. Maybe someday it'll do some good. :? may someday come sooner than later! I wish so much! The tanks are always sooooooo nasty. One tank had like 10 dead red-finned sharks and one little spotted cat cowering in the corner....

Well, better to rescue them than to let them sit there in die in disgusting conditions. At least I saved those specific fish.

Not to mention complaining again about the deplorable conditions of the tanks. Maybe someday it'll do some good. :?

Kudos on your kindness. I rescued six kuhlis from a cloudy nasty tank in Wal-Mart. One had what appeared to be a cotton fungus on it and sadly, they eventually all died. I "rescue" things all the time from awful places like that (and have complained countless times about their deplorable tank ...

Dojo loach with a baaaaaaad sense of humor...

So I came home a few days after getting my normal-colored dojo and found him laying on his side. Upset, I got the net and reached in to get him. As soon as it poked him, he took off like a shot. He's eating fine and snuggling with my golden and acting completely normal otherwise. The other fish are ...
