So thats good to know about the dawn/dusk thing - thankyou! Would these "old" clowns be upset if 2 or 3 new young clowns joined them? These guys have been a pair for 10 years now. Or would I be better off getting other compatible fish? Sorry to sound so naive about it all - just want to do whatever ...

Old clowns - new mates?

Hi all! I have two Clown loaches who have survived various moves and other upheavals with no problem, and always been very active. They are now 10 years old and 5 -6 inches. They have become very nocturnal hiding under a log, and I rarely see them apart from at dusk or dawn (and with blue moonlight)...

Hi Diana, Many thanks for your reply. It was much appreciated! It was indeed a "mini cycle", and I didn't realise this could even happen in a mature tank. I guess I was getting a bit panicky. Juwel Lido 120 - wrong shape/size aquarium?

Hi, I was recently given a Juwel Lido 120l tank (30gallons). Is this big enough to keep my 2 clown Loaches in? (both about 5 inches). It is roughly cube shaped: W61 x D41 x H58cm (24 x 16 x 22 inches). Or would they be better in a tank with larger surface area? They were in a regular 60 litre (15g) ...
