Hey thanks for the info guys! I took the risk and let Crazy fight it out last night with the alpha - and he won. My alpha loach Dot has been at the top of the heirarchy for years and hid in a cave after losing the battle with 'tail between the legs'. Order seemed to have been restored until another ...

I've added more driftwood and created more/bigger caves. The 'crazy' loach is fighting right now and causing more flesh wounds on the current alpha and another big loach. I'm hoping it will stop soon once 'crazy' assumes the role of the alpha loach and the heirarchy is established. Does anyone know ...

Thank you all for your advice - It is only the one loach that can attack and cause flesh wounds - the others fight like all the others, by pushing, lip locking and circling around whilst greyed out. This particular clown has always been dominant - was ranked 6th or 7th in size 2 1/2 years ago and wo...

Aggressive large clowns
Hi there, I have 10 clown loaches in a 5ft 150G tank. I have had them for about 4 years and they range in length from 4-8 inches long. Other tankmates are 3 yo-yos and one med. sized Gourami. The problem I have is that the 3 biggest loaches are always fighting now. One loach in particular is able to...

Thanks for the reply! (blood pressure drops) Yep, it seems like the 'worms' are nematodes Took a pic of one while it was squirming on the glass... http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w316/Loachdance/Worm.jpg Yeah, guilty of overfeeding! I will be moving these guys to my new bigger tank once it is set...

Worm invasion!
Hello fellow loach addicts... I am so shocked after doing my water change today to see these small white worms  - about 0.5mm x 4-5mm crawling around on the glass above the water level! This has probably been covered before but what would be my next best course of action? Antibiotic tx then u...

Yep, I've seen my bigger clowns do this...about 3 or 4 times. Though mine did this 'shadowing' only in pairs. Not sure what it was...and I was going to ask but never got around to it :) At first I thought they were stuck together as they spiralled around - entangled by the spine under the eye...but ...

The above photos were taken of 'super loach' from my other loach tank... went back for another visit and was so intrigued I had to buy him. He has settled in really well, had his first brekky this a.m and doesn't act very shy at all... The tail fin on this guy seems to overlap. I have another clown ...

Thanks :) My tank is 150G with 10 Clowns and 3 Yo-yos. Lighting is just standard. I'm guessing the biggest loach is about 6-7 inches long. Four are about 6 inches, two around 4-5 inches, and the smallest three about 4 inches. The plan is to get a new tank in the future so big I can dive in with thes...

Seems to act normal...swimming is not impaired and he looks for food with the others in the group. Went to see one of the odd ball loaches again today. The face looks peculiar because he has an enlarged forehead with a dent, shortened downward pointing nose and mouth (more so even compared to the sh...

Thanks for the welcome :D I'll try to get a picture...you know, not only is the tail different...but his whole face looks kind of spooky! I asked the store owner if he noticed this unusual looking one and he replied "yup, he came out a bit different!" In comparison to Midman's fish pic, the mid-part...
