Weather Loach / Hillstream Loach together ?

Hi there, I currently have 2 weather loach in my juwel rio tank, I have a smaller fluval 90 litre tank that now only has 1 hillstream loach in (cheni) and 4 wcmm - can I combine them in the much larger tank ? I am wanting to run the 90 litre down, so I don't want to add stock to it. My cheni was par...

Re: Is Pimafix ok to use in a tank with Weather Loach ?

Hi Diana, thank you so much for your reply, I have scouted around the web over the last few days and really struggled to find anything relevant. I did dose the tank last Thursday with lower than the recommended dose of Pimafix, I have been continuing to dose half the recommended dose daily since (an...

Is Pimafix ok to use in a tank with Weather Loach ?

Good Evening, I have a common goldfish in a tank with 2 weather loach they have been together for around years and no previous health issues with any of them. My goldie has caught himself on something and I am concerned that it has not healed quickly - having read up on it looks like a fungus treatm...

Re: Baby Hillstream Loach

Hello ! :D it has been a while ! My family of 4 cheni are still living happily in the 90 litre along with a white cloud mountain minnow group. The babies are 14 moths old now (no longer babies !), what concerns me slightly is that one of them has grown an awful lot bigger - almost / if not aldult si...

Re: Baby Hillstream Loach

Thank you, I appreciate your comments,

The cheni family seem to be doing well in their new home, which is good - I miss my little chum tho' :( He was a bit braver than the others - didn't skit off so much when I went near the tank.

Re: Baby Hillstream Loach

I cleaned the tank today and found him dead behind a plant :( :( Poor chap, he just dissapeared when the cheni family went in. I wonder if the male cheni was just protecting his young - they are 4 months old now. I feel awful. he was such a little character. But, the cheni family had to move. Thanks...

Re: Baby Hillstream Loach

Thanks Jim :) I have had him/her 15 months now, has been in the 90 litre for 11 months, it's just since the family went in that he has started hiding like this ( it's 2 days now. I used to see him everyday). I feel awful - poor thing, he was quite happy before :( Do you think it is a good idea to cl...

Re: Baby Hillstream Loach

Hi Jim :D I can't be a 100% sure , but I think the family are the cheni species (looks like them in the picture). The other one (that is missing ) is a beaufortia kweichowensis I think, it has much smaller dot markings all over and it is rounder bodied than the others which appear to have a slightly...

Re: Baby Hillstream Loach

Hi Kittykat :) It is another strain of hsl, I think slightly smaller (not much) and probably a bit rounder in body - but until I see them together I cannot be sure ! It is not normally shy, that is what is worrying me. Yes, it dissapears off sometimes but then it pootles about the tank quite happily...

Re: Baby Hillstream Loach

Hi :D Well I have lost another baby, so only 2 left now - but they are a decent size and doing well. :) I purchased a second hand 180 litre tank, which is now fully cycled and home to my Goldie - he looks so happy ! Last Saturday teatime I moved my hsl family (mum, dad and 2 babies) into the 90 litr...

Re: Baby Hillstream Loach

Hi Jim, and everyone else :D My babies are 5 weeks old now, 2 have dissapeared and 3 remain - they are really growing! They love half a grape :D I am trying to source another tank via ebay to put the goldie in, I can then move my loach into the 90 litre. At the minute in the 90 litre I also have one...

Re: Baby Hillstream Loach

Hi Jim, What a fantastic article - thanks for the link! Yes they look very much like the cheni, I have only seen about 5 babies at the minute - but they are not easy to see (started using a magnifying glass which is good, they are gorgeous!). Thanks for your advice, I was gobsmacked last night when ...
