Re: ID please--are these kubs?

I don't know how they got them, but there's only one little guy left. I hope he goes to a good home.

Re: Spawning dojos

Yes, Nancy, both my bigger dojos got those brown spots pretty quickly after I bought them. I was quite alarmed at first, but have since learned that it's normal with the goldens. My little guy, the male in the video, has no spots yet. They spawned for 2 days and finally called it. :) The female only...

Re: Tank just got bigger, help with 1000 litre, a few ?'s

The only tip I can give is to HIRE professionals to move the big tank. When I bought my 220 gallon, which weighs a million pounds empty, we used pros to get it into the house. There's no way the two of us could have done it, especially navigating the narrow doorways they had to in order to get it in...

Re: Spawning dojos

Oh my god yes, one of my FAVORITE Futurama episodes.

And here's the video. Sorry for the glass reflection--I should have closed the blinds.

Re: Spawning dojos

Haha, no, it's a cheap little underwater video camera I picked up at Costco for our family snorkeling vacation this winter. We can't stop playing with it--it's fun and so far, very effective at working while submerged. :) I'll get the videos up this morning. One of them came out very nicely. And the...

Spawning dojos

So yesterday I did a 50% water change, which I do weekly, and today, since early this morning, two of my dojos have been spawning. Tirelessly. The eggs are getting eaten immediately by other tank inhabitants, so no fry, BUT. Are they going to wear themselves out to the point of injury? It's almost 1...

Re: ID please--are these kubs?

Ooooo, thank you SO much! I don't mind that drive, and in a few months I'm adding a group of clowns to the 220 (the spoiled kubs are going to have to share, heh heh hehe) and I'm thrilled that there's a quality LFS to get them from. Thanks for the tip! Regarding Petsmart, I was in there today gettin...

Re: ID please--are these kubs?

I see we're both in New England... Do you mind sharing what your LFS is? I haven't found any stellar ones around here. Petsmart is as good as it gets. (Although I have to admit the Petsmart I go to DOES take good care of their fish. They're healthy and even alive, which is a far cry from the first L...

Re: ID please--are these kubs?

Ahhh, yup--those look like my guys! It sounds like they'll be compatible with kubs, and appreciate my setup, so I think it'll be ok. Do you think I need to try and find 3-4 more rostrata to keep them happy? (As far as I can tell, they're schooling with the kubs, although there are still some dominan...

ID please--are these kubs?

Hello everyone: I purchased 3 kubs from Petsmart a little over a week ago to add to the 10 kubs I have in my 220 gallon. Two were pretty good-sized and sparring in the store tank, and one was really pretty tiny. The two bigger ones had grayed out from their feisty behavior, and so I couldn't get a g...
