Trying to Identify Loach Type pic too

Post by Zukuda » Tue Jan 01, 2008 6:35 pm

Hi!
I just got a new Loach named Luka a few days ago and I just wanted to figure out what kind of loach he is so that I can make sure that he's well kept.

I went to the picture search, and I couldn't find anything that was quite right.

Description:

Eel body

Green coloring on top, creme/white coloring on bottom. He has black spots but aren't in any particular order except for a row of thicker black spots on the top of him.

He has tiny scales, similar to a pythons scales.

Similar to a Spiked Loach, but the fins don't spike as the spiked loach does.

Head is smaller but slightly elongated.

I tried to get a better photo but was unable too. XD He doesn't like to sit still!

Yes it's a Misgurnus anguillicaudatus .
The colouring and patterning of this species is very varied.

Martin.

Thanks! Wow, the pet store helper said that the one I have will only get to be a max of about 5-7 inches, the ones in the pictures are huge! =3 The information helped alot, I think Luka will be one happy Loach. =3
