That's wonderfully good to hear.
You never want to offend people over their choices - and so many tanks come as kits or hand-me-downs, that it's often not a "choice" anyway. I don't know who it was in the 60s and 70s who thought pink, green, purple, and two shades of blue might work...
I'm happy to see the hobby slowly moving toward biotopes and away from sunken pirate ships and that horrible gravel.
I rent a house and I spend a lot of time gardening. Obviously at some point in the past, an aquarium was kept in the house, because you can dig down - quite deep into the soil in some beds and find pink gravel.
It's spooky!
