I tried, but unfortunately the person is unwilling to remove the pictures because he is convinced they are not copyright, or in any other way protected.

Wow, that was a strange number of e-mails, I think I got that person a bit mad.

After I explained that the pictures are part of the main site content here at loaches online he started to explain that he had 30 years experience and wrote international articles on the hobby and that you (Emma and Loaches online) should be happy with him advertising the pictures.
He claimed to have removed the picture from Emma, which is still there, and refused to remove the one from Graeme.

Strange how some people are unable to show a little decency. :?

Maybe we should all contact him every day until he removes the pictures. Dutch, would you post his email address since I am not sure that I am finding the right one on his site? Also, where is Graeme's picture on the site. I see Emma's, but not Graeme's.

Thank you again, Dutch. :D I don't think he has removed it though. What on earth makes these people think it is ok to steal others work and use it to sell their fish? So what if this guy claims to have all that experience and is a writer, it doesn't make it right. In fact, if his is indeed a writer, he should understand that you don't go around stealing others work! I am particularly proud of that picture and it belongs to me and Loaches Online. This is making me so mad.

If he has years of experience, he should have his own pictures and not need to steal someone else's.

Is there a comment section for the website? I know on ebay you can leave comments? If we had a link to his comment section, we could all post emails saying how unhappy we are with him stealing Emma's and Graeme's pictures. Maybe that would help influence him to remove the stolen pictures. I don't think it would matter if we replied in English.

Keith, if you scroll down there are three pictures. The first one is Emma's, the second was taken from a different site and the third is Graeme's (from the gallery of the B. kubotai species index).

There is no comment section as far as I can see, but I've sent an e-mail to the main site as it is against their rules to post pictures that are not the advertisers own. They confirmed my e-mail and will reply within four days. There is an official form that can be submitted, but it's in dutch and can only be submitted by the person who owns the rights.

I think it's very strange too that a person who claims to be a writer of articles on the hobby is so lacks with the material of others.
This is the e-mail of the person... whbijker@hotmail.com (His name is 'Willy')
I'm sure English won't be a problem as he claims to be an international author. (Do feel like I'm feeding him to a pack of wolves though... )

Thanks Dutch. I just sent a message to him. My subject heading was "Illegal use of photos" and I wrote

Please remove the first and third photo from the web site http://www.marktplaats.nl/index.php?url ... 3Fxref%3D1

You do not have permission to use these photos.

Thank you.

Keith Wolcott

I do not think that he should be allowed to get away with this and we may be able to have an impact. I encourage everyone to bombard him with such messages.

If you right-click Emma's image, you get this message in a popup window:
Deze afbeelding is auteursrechtelijk beschermd en mag niet zonder toestemming van de auteur worden gebruikt
Babelfish translates this as:
This image has been protected copyright and cannot without authorisation of the author be used
So, they've copied the image and then had the cheek to protect its copyright as their own!

I'm in one of those moods so I wrote this:

Howdy

You've been emailed more than a few times at this point that you are using several digital photos that don't belong to you. Stated quite simply, this is theft, pure and simple.

As someone who is supposed to be a "international writer", lets put the shoe on the other foot. How would you feel if someone took your words and used them verbatim without your permission? I'll bet you wouldn't be happy and neither are the people you are stealing these photos from.

You can rationalize all you want, but not any amount of it can justify stealing something that isn't yours. Please do the right thing and remove these photos immediately.

got his reply a few minutes ago.

I don't like the tone in what you are talking to me!
I am not a little child, and i wasn't in your class at school or something like that.
Yes,i rationalize things from the internet, that is the modern way of live, wake up...
If you have doubts about me being an international writer on aquarium-matters,just ask Cichlid News in the USA,Cichlidae in Holland and England,Aquarium Live! in Germany or Het Aquarium in Holland...
This is namely exactly why i wouldn't matter if people use my pictures or photograps, this happens, in the times with internet.
It is a little thing to remove the pictures from the ad,but like i said, the way you are asking me that, and the childish way you react does not make any impression on me and is not giving me any way of respect.
Very famous authors in the aquariumbusiness let me use there pics, what are you talking about???
I will think about removing the pics, and that is all!
And...you are a thief, using so much of my time fpr nothing.
Remove yout photo's from the internet, and your problem will be gone!

Emma and Graeme have had their pictures stolen and used to sell items on various sites. Even though Emma has politely informed the sellers she does not want them using her pictures, they are not being helpful. The last gentleman said she should feel priveledged, because he's a bigshot fish writer, and she should be grateful he stole her picture. The first one relented and removed her picture.
