I really do think your fish had ich in the gills that caused the rapid breathing, it's an easy area for ich to attack & you can't see it, at least not easily. As for the wardley's ickaway, I wonder if it was meant to be used as a dip at that high dose rate. That wouldn't work for ich but maybe for some kinds of fungus? Strange that they also sell another malachite ich treatment. I guess you could still use it if you wanted to do the medical math involved in figuring a more standard dosage & frequency. I had thought they were all very similar in strength. I know I'll be more aware in the future. Good luck on the continuing treatment, you must be more than halfway done.

I get it now, thanks for clarifying, at least I know what to look for next time if a similar thing happens.

I've still got no idea why the malachine green is so concentrated for Wardley's....have to ask the LFS as they seem to use it on their fish, but for now, I'm sticking with AquaMaster for sure.

I too, thought that I was more than halfway through the treatment, but it looks like ich is still appearing on the CL's body and tail (caudal fin)....unbelievable! Its look I am fighting a never-ending battle with ich, I definitey treated it early this time, so I've no idea why its still in the tank - its been 2 and a half weeks since I first spotted and treated for ich.

If I'm around the halfway mark, does it mean the whole treatment will take 5 weeks??! Of course, no one can answer this for me, as it will depend on various factors. Excuse the pedantic waffling. Time will tell what happens.

At least the white spots is not at a late stage where there are dozens of white spots on the CL. There is never an instance where there are 5 or more white spots on the one CL, it is usually only 1 or 2 white spots on the one CL, and then the next CL will get it....and so the process continues....

Here's another good link I found regarding ich.
