One more time with the stink water.
So today just in conversation a freind of mine says to me hey did you get rid of that gassy smell in the tank? I look right at him and say what did you say? He says the gassy smell in the tank. THATS THE SMELL, GAS not salami. I knew i couldent place the odor but thats it. Anyone know what would cause a gassy smell?

somthing is decaying (hope is spelled that right) in your tank. Or somekind of algea that lives in your tank that smells.
if you have a sand bottom take some out and smell it if it smels like a sewer than thats the problem. if not try and move your fingers in it and watch for bubbles that come out. if that is the case the bottom is rotting (the air in it).
but dead snails can also smell if there are empty shells with half eaten snails remove them. if you don't believe me put a dead snail under your nose and smell it.
but wood in the tank can also be decaying (noticeble when its soft).
First clean the bottom (maybe onder some wood or stone there is a buildup of fishshit (sorry can come up with the normal word at the moment).
then try and stir through the bottom with your fingers and loosening it. and change about 20% of the water.
an wait a day or 2 and smell.. hopefully it's gone... if not try more of the above (Smell the wood and other stuff to find the problem)

Ok im right in the middle of doing some work. I have dismantled both Eheims and they are getting cleaned(there goes my bio). There was some brown Algae on the back of the tank that i scrubbed off. I ussually dont clean the back glass being id rather look at algae and not a wall. The sand bed isnt deep enough to hold anything although i have stirred up what is there. Theres only 5 lbs of sand and its a 125 gallon. Im adding Carbon and doing a water change as well as cleaning the filters. No snails in this tank as the fish would finish them off real fast. The woods been out for days already so its not that. Im wondering if it was the algae. Ill keep trying.

[Do you realize that you very well may lose some or all of your fish due to this? If you have two that's perfect, you should have done one at a time, spaced at least a month apart.[/quote
Guess i forgot have mentioned ive had some huge sponge filters going for about a week and a half now just in case of this scenario.]
