My River tank ?

Post by piggy4 » Sat Jun 21, 2008 7:27 am

I'm only writing this because i wonder if some people see the heading river tank and think that might be a bit technical ?
My river tank that isnt really a river tank , i say this because the tank in question is 4 ft long 12 inches wide and 15 inches deep , its got a sand base with lots of rounded pebbles stacked on top of each other and some pieces of beech wood , there is no heater, and it is filtered with a Fluval4 internal , the stock consists of 10 homaloptera Zolingeri , 8 Gastromyzon sp/? 4 of the black ones with white spots ?[name escapes me] 3 syciopterus gobies , 6 scooter loaches , and 6 Akysis cats , i'd say this is possibly the tank that gets the least attention , my theory on this is that i feed very sparcely , therfore the PH is constantly well over neutral , probarbly about 0.8, what i have noticed recently as summer is here and the water has warmed up , there is more activity !
i'm just writing this in the hope that more people , might be encouraged to attempt a river fish tank !

I just picked up a new (to me) 240 gallon (8x2x2) that I'm considering setting up as a river tank for my clown loaches; I've been scanning every thread regarding river tanks.

It's nice to be able to learn from the experience of others.

I also have a Black Ghost Knife and some Balas going into the new tank. I'm still researching other appropriate tankmates.
