3 yoyo's in 24g cube - ok?

Post by kurush » Sun Sep 21, 2008 7:56 pm

One of my tanks is a 24G cube with 3 yoyo loaches in it and one otocinclus catfish. The fish seems to be doing alright but I decided to ask for an opinion here whether the tank may be overstoked. Loaches are now about 8 months old.
I also plan to put some trumpet snails in this tank with a hope that they will be able to maintain their population while serving as an occasional snack for my loaches. Not sure if it is feasible or not.

This won't be big enough for them for very long. Plus you'll get better action out of them if they can be in a slightly larger shoal. A 24G cube would be perfect for growing some plants, adding some shrimp, and a shoal of very small fish like tetras. I wouldn't say it's overstocked, but loaches (all loaches) want a little more swimming space than that.
Your vantage point determines what you can see.
