Growth Rate- Y. modesta
Folks,
Can you tell i'm working in front of the tank these days :) Gotta love the new lap-top.
How long to Y.modesta live, and how quickly do they grow?
Other large Botia-types (ie: clowns) have a reputation to grow very slowly and live for a couple/few decades. Y. mods don't seem to have the same reputation... so how quickly do they go?
My blu-crew grew pretty well for the first few months, but seem to have stalled out for the Fall.... I suppose i've neglected them a little recently.

And as a PS to all the Sepos out there: good choice last night. You had us worried with the "Folksy" Alaskan. She is what every woman i dated in high-school became- great and fabulous folks, but by no means good to run the world.

I don´t know about Y.modesta, but as the Y.caudi. look very similar to the Y.modesta. My Y.caudipunctata were the fastest growing fish I ever had, except S.cf.balteate, those already grew in the small q-tank
from the same shop and the same time as the Y.Caudi., I got some Y.sid. (which look like Y.lineolata) and those don´t grow really much at all.
clowns are showing average growth, Striatas much less growth than clowns (have the striatas from 3 different sources, but similar growthrate).
My Pangio grew fast. Sewellia picked up weight well, but did not really grow.
For completeness I mention, that I keep my tanks rather on the cooler side of the recommended temperature range.

Mine took 3-4 years to get full length, about 4"-5" US growing fast the first two ,then filling out, They live about ten years or so ime, maybe twice that if yer good. I keep 20 plus together in a 180 US gallon dead pool type tank , great fun at feeding time. If your growth has stalled increase your O2 to your tank. Your fish have grown yet the enviroment has not been improved possibly. More O2 is more growth as the appetite is increased......
