Just a little comment on snails and loaches....
I have several tanks with different botiine species and I consider myself a loachaholic and I`m proud of it :D

However; my initial interest in Loaches came about because I had a snail problem! I then started to read about these fish (primarily here on LOL but also on other forums) and then gradually developed a deeper interest in getting them. And I don`t regret it for a moment!!!!

My point beeing; it isn`t necessarily wrong to try and help stewey956 with the appropriate loach for his aquarium. It might turn yet another eager aquarist into a loachaholic.... and that would be a good thing, in my opinion :D

Kind regards
Marius

As I recently got some tigers too, I was very surprised, that they did not go for the snails.
The other tanks with other botia-kind of loaches are entire snail free.

You mentioned having *inches of fish space remaining in your 37g.

Thought I'd mention that the inch per gallon rule is really an inaccurate method for determining stocking levels in aquaria. Works somewhat decently for slim/streamlined fish but totally fails when applied to bulky fish such as clowns or Angelfish. Not to mention that it completely sidelines the territorial issues present in species such as Tiger loaches/angelfish or breeding fish with their fry.

Not saying you've done this, but frequently using this method tanks end up overstocked. Even massive overfiltration won't address overcrowding issues in all cases.

Sounds like you like your snails. If they are breeding too rapidly decreasing feeding and giving/selling some might solve your problem. 8)

I like my Mystery snails, not the dwarf rams...
