I got a new kuhli!

Post by loachmom » Wed Jan 28, 2009 5:09 pm

Hello,

I was in my lfs last Friday when I saw that they had in a new shipment of kuhli loaches. I watched them for quite a while, and I was surprised at how healthy they seemed. Not one of them was gasping or dying, which is the usual sight when I see a new batch of kuhlis. I asked a worker when they had come in, and she said Monday. I decided to wait till Sunday to come back, since that is when they always have their half-price fish sale. I also noticed a kuhli that was interestingly marked, and decided to buy that one if it was still there on Sunday.
Well, He was still there on Sunday, and the nice people at the store took extra time just to catch this one kuhli for me out of a tank of about 50 frantic pangios.
I also bought him some friends to quarantine with. I've really got to stay out of these fish stores.
Here's a pic:

He and his tank mates are still doing fine today.

ooh beautiful! I love all kuhlis, but it's really nice to get some more unusual ones so you can tell them all apart! Very nice :)

Thank you, Emma and zmo63 :D

I forgot to mention that while I was at the store, I mentioned to the owner that I would like to find P. oblonga which is sometimes known as black kuhli or java loach. She said she was pretty sure that she had seen java loach on her list. I may soon have some of those, too. :)

*taps at the glass to make the pic appear* um ... very beautiful kuhli you have there... um.. honest...

*mutters some un-complimentary things about work-based network protection*

Hopefully I can see this better at home :(

Hi Nancy,
I originally bought the kuhli in the picture along with three buddies to quarantine with. After I got them home and acclimated, I kept thinking about all those healthy kuhlis. I got right back in the car and returned to the store to buy four more.
I've really got to stay away from that store till all the kuhlis are gone!!

I just checked on them a little while ago, and all eight of them are loachy dancing in the corner. That's a nice sight. :)
