Do Yoyos group together?

Post by Dan234 » Sun Feb 15, 2009 1:38 pm

Hey guys,

I have 3 Yoyos in my 50 gallon along with tiger barbs. The Yoyos always seem to tussle with each other when passing by and I have not ever seen them huddle together during nap time.

Would getting a couple more Yoyos convince them to huddle together occasionally? As of now, each one has its own cave or nook and won't accept another Yoyo in its home. It would be nice to see some buddy up system once in awhile.

They chase tiger barbs around when bored but seem to give the bristlenose plec. a lot of respect since they never tussle with her. Unless she's sucking on a wafer, then the Yoyos will go underneath her and try to pull the food out.

Yoyos definitely huddle when in large groups. Dan, you really do need to add more to your group (quarantine new arrivals first of course). Here's an old pic of mine, showing some Yoyos huddling under some bogwood. I remember taking this at the shop, late at night, with no customers walking past disturbing them:

Are Almorhae sociable ? I'm not reall too sure , I have a group of 9 in a big tank and I'd say they were a little on the terratorial side , they arent too bad but will have a little wrestle now and again ! though I never notice any real damage.
