Socializing loaches

Here is three videos of three different loaches socializing with their kin. The more the merrier is true in these cases. Comments on what is going on are welcome.

Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki, if you look closely you can see that one is missing a fin and has a crooked face.

Excellent videos. The behavior of the sids is quite interesting. I never saw mine behave like that.

I think Mark (mad duff) has seen similar behavior regarding the Sid's. Very interesting!

The Rosy Loaches are certainly showing breeding activity's, mine have been showing similar signs but no fry has been found yet, plus my tank isn't fry friendly at the moment.

Great quality vids

I see similar behaviour with my sids on a regular basis, and it's more pronounced after live feedings (usually 3 times a week) and water changes (40% every 3-4 days). I have a much poorer quality video than yours here:

All the vids are from the same tank, some while back I had to combine two tanks. Don't live in a mansion so the lack of room made it happen. But there are hillstreams, Pseudomugils, Rosy loaches, Schisturas, shrimps, assassin snails and Panda garras with the sids.

And no fry with the Rosys though that behavior has occurred a lot. But not a very fry friendly tank this either. I would actually like to have the Rosys in they're own tank but that cant just happen now.

Sorry to hijack the thread Janne but I absolutely love the Tuberoschistura arakanensis from the third video (I assume these are the same fish that barge into the first vid). Does anybody know if these are available in the UK?

I think there is only one left now, but I will try for more as soon as I see them on lists again. They were imported under a fictitious name tag of T. arakanensis, but we feel they are an undescribed Yunnanilus species: http://www.loaches.com/species-index/tu ... rakanensis
