loaches need good home

Post by patsy47 » Sat May 02, 2009 8:16 pm

i will be moving and breaking down and selling my 125 gal. tank. I have 12 large clowns and need a good home for them. I don't want to just give them to a PET SHOP, but don't know how to go about relocating them and of course, shipping them safely to their new home! I desperately need your good advice.....what's the best way to ship them...and does anyone in this group really want them? all advice gratefully accepted. I live in Ingleside, il. 60041 , which is in Northern Il, close to the Wis. state line....thanks for any help! Pat Hayes

Hey Pat,

I am in Ames, IA 50010 if you can not find anyone closer. I have a 220gal with a 75 gallon converted sump. Tons of water movement and filtration.

I currently have 14 clowns, the largest ~7", w/ the majority being ~5". I am not sure what the stocking levels of the 220 are, but if it seems acceptable I will add them to the shoal.

I am 6 hours away according to google maps, but if you would be willing to meet halfway, like in davenport, IA or where ever, I can meet you whenever you want.

Good luck in your search and sorry you have to get rid of you tank and stock.

Hi Fred! thanks for replying....but i really can't drive to Iowa....with fish!
i'd prefer to be able to ship them, safely, of course...and that the adoptee person pays for their transport.... perhaps there are other "parents" out there....

Sure no problem, If you want to ship them that is no problem at all. Up to you really. I just thought 6 hours in cars would be faster/better for them than overnight air :) If you do not get anyone closer, I will gladly pay the shipping costs and take care of them.

I am sure someone has to be closer,, loaches are contagious you know.

In a couple of months i'll be looking for just these fish for a 2K-gal pond....
Clowns have a much better personality then koi.
Bad timing.

thanks to everyone...fortunately, i 'm not in a huge hurry since we won't be listing our house for a few more wks. and then-who knows how long it'll take to sell....but i will need to find a home for them in the next few months-just so it's not a mad dash at the end-stay in touch and i'll keep up to date on our progress-cheers, Pat
