Post by notino » Fri Jun 12, 2009 10:35 pm

Hi, I am new in this forum, i am from Chile and i am starting with a new aquarium, 40 inch length x 23.5 inch with and 19.7 inch tall, i want to have some "Botia Striata" ,striped loach (sorry but english is not my native language) and some corys, i want to put Flourite Black (1.6 inch) at the bottom covered by Flourite Black Sand (1.6 inch), and i want to know if this substrate is good for the loachs or could be dangerous, thanks

Bienvenido, notino :-)

Flourite is OK for Loaches. Loaches do like to dig, and the finer material is best. I did not have any problems with my B. striata when they were in a tank with coral sand, but I moved them because the water was really too hard in there for them. Mine do not dig too much. Some species dig more than others.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!
