Temps and S Lineolata

HI guys, I have a group of 6 S lineolata currently in a 20L. It has a hydrosponge as well as an Eheim internal power filter hooked up to an airpump for good oxygenation. I noticed that the temps in the bottom tanks of my fishroom (including the loaches) are getting up to 80-81. How huge of an issue is this in the short and long term. I can move them out of the fishroom but it will take a week or so to get the move done.

20 lt is not enough. it should be at least a 60x30x30 cm tank or about 60 lt. 26° is temporarely not a problem when you add enough oxygen. as long term temp: 22°/23° . best is more in summer, less in winter.

this tank has always been temporary, (got them in last week) THey will be going into a tank that is 48"x12x12" eventually, and by 20L i meant a US 20gallon long tank that's 30"x12x12" which would make it 75 liters if my calculations are correct. I have a lot of air and surface turbulence in the tank in the mean time. They're all eating very well and active.

Keeping them in the 80-81F range is probably okay, as ch.koenig said, provided you have enough current and oxygenation, but I wouldn't keep them at that temperature over the long term.A fan blowing on the tank can help lower the temp. a few degrees.
By the way, I have a US 20 Long set up as a hillstream tank and it has worked well for about 7 years now. I just don't over stock it.

no problem that way. as long as you don't change to left-hand traffic overseas it can all be converted :D
normally the bottom tanks are a little cooler so a change wouldn't bring a solution ...? apart of this problem the setting seems to be perfect.
@ Jim: a CPU-fan?

I don't know if a CPU fan would do the job, but any small fan could work.
I have a small fan mounted above my 20 Long (US gal) river tank that is set on a timer. The fan is only about 6 inches across and was purchased at Target. I think I have seen them at Walmart, too. The fan blows across the water return tube of my UV sterilizer and takes the temp. down about 2 degrees.

I'll put a fan down there to try and remedy things. I appreciate all the quick replies. I got hooked on these guys after Jim spoke at our club meeting here in madison a month ago :o)

Sure did, I'm the one that handled the auction and business part of the meeting that day. Didn't make it out for lunch though.

Good to hear from you again. I had a nice stay in Madison (and Milwaukee) that weekend and really enjoyed giving my presentation to both fish clubs.

By the way, there was someone I talked to at that meeting who had an odd hillstream he wanted me to ID. He was supposed to post the pics on this site, but hasn't yet. I didn't catch his name.
