Loach Paradise?

Post by Flotsam&1Jetsom » Wed Sep 15, 2010 3:25 pm

I own two small kulhi loaches that I have had for 2 weeks which I never see. I have always wondered where they hide and today I found out. So I'm doing my monthly routine filter medium clean when suddenly a bundle of kulhi loaches tumbles out into my water changing bucket. Turns out they have been living in the filter!!

Has anyone else had this? They aren't stuck in their cos they come out to feed everyday. Just thinks its a bit weird. There are plenty of places for them to hide in the tank don't know why the filter is so special. I got a stingray elite filter.

Perhaps they like the hum of the motor and the warmth it adds inside the filter.

I had an angelicus loach who did that. He just LOVED it in there. Finally, I got a piece of filter media and put it across the outflow of the filter so he had to stay in the tank. Once he gave up trying to get in the filter, he was fine and resigned himself to living in the tank.

I once thought that I had lost my tiretrack eel. Then one day as I was cleaning my eclipse filter I saw a fin stick up where the filter pad is positioned. It suddenly moved and so, with wet net flailing and me screaming my head off, I found my eel again!
