The good:
50 gallons for $25!

came with a metal mesh hood (kinda icky)
mostly clean glass
no cracks or damage to glass
holds water
nice clean silicone on all the edges
The bad:
no center brace (owner said it broke)
icky faded fake wood plastic frame
top plastic frame is a bit melted on one of the sides (usable, but not pretty)
crack in bottom plastic frame
The melted spot and crack are manageable, but I don't like the thought of it not having a center brace. I want my loaches to have more room to roam, but I will not endanger them for it.
(This was a call for help, but thanks to good ol' research, it looks like all I need to do is replace the top and bottom frame. Something that my lfs should be able to provide. )
Tentative tank set-up deadline...2 months.
In that time, I'll set up a stand, replace the plastic frames, set up a light system with hood, and transfer my loach babies and their tank mates over.
I look forward to the challenges ahead!
