There has been some sucking of the lemon goldfish a few nights ago but this could have been retaliation. The goldie was nudging the loach off the glass by tickling its tail. This happened more than once and then the sucking began. It hasn't occurred since or, to that matter, before this as far as I know.
The aqua shop said that the golden loaches were alright with goldfish as they were not aggressive. Only the grey and black striped ones were liable to be a nuisance. They seem to get along just fine for most of the time.
It will be interesting to see if this is true.
One other interesting observation is that the goldfish get quite high after eating one of the flakes I give them but another brand keeps them calm. It's just like kids with additives. They chase round the tank and nudge eachother after Tetra flakes. The others are less coloured and don't smell as much.

The striped ones do the same thing as the gold ones. It's like saying a blue guppy isn't as aggressive as a red guppy. They are the same! You might have to return him if he keeps sucking on the fish as this is bad for the goldfish.

I am surprised that they are not good tank mates for goldfish as the aquarium shop keep many loaches in with the goldfish and sell them as companions who are used to help clean the tank. I have three goldfish and two loaches and they seem ok for most of the time. Only occasionally do they suck the fish.
Another point about the flakes. The flake that calms the goldfish has this morning made the loaches go hyper after they ate some.

yes, they are good at young but when they get older they get huge like 30 cm and are very aggro at that stage.

Sounds like a new tank when they are older.
