botia kubotai compatibility

Post by tonyf1971 » Sun Jul 29, 2012 4:22 am

Thinking of adding 4 x Polkadot loaches to my aquarium, I have the correct parameters etc but not sure on how compatible they are with the current bottom dwellers ?

Currently the tank has 5 x Pepper Cories, 2 x Hoplo Catfish and 1 x Bristlenose plec. The usual array of caves , driftwood etc.

Would the loaches work ok with theses guys ?

Provided that your tank is large enough and has hiding spaces enough for all of those fish, I think that the loaches will get along just fine with your existing fish.

I have a decent mix of catfish and loaches in my tank and they tend to ignore each other for the most part, except at feeding time when they tend to plow into, onto, and over each other in their attempts to get the most food. I've never witnessed any aggression whatsoever between my loaches (kubotai and several other species) and my catfish (peppered cory and several other species).

I think you'll enjoy your polka-dots. They are an active and interesting species.
