need new snail eaters

Post by JayK » Sun Oct 15, 2006 11:57 am

Hi,

i had a school of 8 clown loaches but i had to sell them due to lack of space in my 55 gal. tank.

My Malaysian trumpetsnails are now becoming a problem. They multiply too fast.

Are yo yo loaches good snaileaters too ? Also does yo yo loaches have the same cool personallity as the clowns ?

Or any other recommendations ? I focus on personallity and snaileating abillity.

My biotope is South American clearwater so this will unfortunately be the only non south american fish.. As far as i know there are no south american loaches ?

Personally i would lure them into a small plastic bottle with a meaty food inside. Depending on which other fish you keep, they cant find the food inside the bottle, but the snails sure will. Then simply remove the bottle. This avoids you keeping loaches for the wrong reasons.

that sounds like a wise idea. then you can really enjoy the loaches at their best. they are worth so much more than their snail eating ability.
