As per the five in one kit, those really aren't accurate. I wouldn't trust that. I would say if you arent registering nitrate, you may have a lower level of it and it isnt enough to register.

Nitrate kits are usually expensive if you want something really good and accurate.

As long as you keep your water changes frequent and of enough volume your Nitrate shouldn't get very high. Even if your tank is quite full and you do weekly changes you should have forty or less...

Have you taken water to a good LFS? They have good test kits usually and will check your water for you
