Hi! I was in a lfs today and saw some loaches in a tank labelled Burmese Border Loach. The specimens looked like a cross between Kubotai and Yo-Yo's with respect to banding and body shape. I looked through the species index, but could find nothing matching it. I saw "Burmese Border Sand Loach" in the index, but the pictures definitely do not match the tank specimens. Does anybody have any ideas of what these could be?

In most cases, "Burmese Border Loach" would be a Kubotai, addition of "Sand" would be a Schistura of some kind.
Kubotai markings vary a lot.
Body shape depends on the size of the fish too.
However, an identification based on tradename cannot be relied upon. If you really want to know rather than guess, go back with a camera and post the picture together with the size....

Burmese Border Loach
Hi Mikev!
After looking through the longer loach descriptions and pictures, I think what I saw in the store was Botia Histrionica. It is also called the Burmese Loach so that would explain the store labelling.
