I intrigued to know why you were banned from Fishgeeks? You don't have to tell me, or you can PM me, whatever, but I find that highly suprising. The Kapenta Kid wrote: When I was banned from Fish Geeks the owner spitefully and unwisely deleted all my pics from the member gallery where they were hosted. I believe it is called shooting yourself in the foot![]()
You were always one of the most intelligent and informative people on there, with remarkable patience considering some of the people that seem to frequent that locale.
I don't understand some webmasters and I've personally experienced the shooting in the foot of one. About a year ago I was approached in a sort of roundabout way by the female webmaster of a certain website that shall remain nameless. Let's just say that it has an affiliation with a long-standing magazine.
The approach was one of certain flattery of my knowledge and basically an invite to become one of the site's "mentors". I thought I detected certain sexual undertones in the methodology of the wording, and ran it past a female LOL member for her opinion. Her opinion was the same as mine

So I asked this webmaster jokingly what sort of "relationship" she was after and pointed out that her requirement of "exclusive rights" to my knowledge was blatantly unreasonable. I asked her straight, "Am I being head-hunted?". At this point, she gets somewhat more pointed in the conversation and doesn't like my attitude. Probably because I called her on her requirements. I told her that LOL comes first and always will. I flit in and out of her site, see the last post was weeks ago and flit out again. If I go in and there's a loach question to be answered, I'll answer it to the best of my abilities willingly.....and flit off again. I'm not about to be tied to the one site that has minimal traffic while the epicentre of Loach internet is here right?
So then it's , "Well, we talked amongst ourselves here and others thought you would be a good mentor, but I had reservations about you which I see now were well-founded". At this point I go into my best Patrick Mc Goohan impersonation, "I am not a number, I am a free man"....that kind of stuff. She actually got quite bitchy as my female LOL member confidente would verify ( I forwarded mails).
So I now very, very rarely go there. Her "offer" was rescinded....I didn't get blocked or anything. I go there now very occasionally, and the Bottom-livers Forum has tumbleweed blowing through it

Maybe when I pointed out that most loach-keepers I know zoom all over the internet, seeking and dispensing knowledge, i.e. are not "exclusive", she got really up-tight? She showed me an example of another "specialist" site (which she has a webmaster interest in) where she claimed the members were "exclusive" and went nowhere else. I think I remember telling her to get a reality check, because I highly doubted that was the real truth.....sheesh! Some people.
So she lost my potential "services" of loach help because I wouldn't play by her elitist control-freaky rules.
Ho-hum......was that a rant? I dunno....a little vent maybe
Martin (non-exclusive, but firmly rooted right here).
