The remainder of the yoyos are dead

For those that read my thread earlier this week, the following post should make some sense........


Hi all....came back to find all the surviving yoyos dead...all 5 of them

I had removed one that was about to die on Tuesday, it was just floating around...couldnt even swim and breathing rapidly...I chucked him into the smaller 29g tank (from the 100g)..and 30 minutes later, its swimming fine and is still alive as we speak...

I should have done the same for the other 5....

I fed them bloodworms yesterday before reading chef's message and they were dead today

Coincidence or what??

NO other fish was found dead, just 5 bloody yoyos

Initially I was very annoyed and pissed off but I don't care anymore....seeing that I do put in the effort, work and time in caring and maintaining the fish...if I put the effort in and something like this happens, there isnt much I can do....in fact, I reckon its pretty BS that this could happen when I do take care of the fish. Makes me wonder what would happen to the fish if I spent half or a third of the time on them...

sorry for the rant, not sure if its my fault the remaining yoyos died, but it seems there is NO point putting time and effort on the fish, especially when something like this happens..

yoyos are extremely hard to find now in sydney for some stupid reason, the ones that are for sale are absolutely tiny....less than 1/2 " but look more like new fry.....I don't think I will get any more yoyos

But I now have 1 last surviving yoyo in the smaller 29g tank, not sure what to do with him......

I am pretty adament that had I taken out the other 5 yoyos last night and moved them to the 29g, they would still be alive now..

I've been reading your other posts on this topic. I'm really sorry for your losses. If Nothing else in your tank is showing an bad signs, I wouldn't stress to much over it as far as you doing anything wrong.

I've been keeping fish for quiet sometime and sometimes things like this happen. I think we just have to realize that sometimes we don't get healthy good quality fish even from the most reputable shops and people. One things I try not to do (even though I do it all the time) is try not to buy expensive fish from shops that do not offer any guranntee. Most of the better shops around here offer a 14 day gurantee on their fish. Bring back the dead fish and a sample of your water. Funny thing is I've never had to use it at one of these shops.

Hurricane Charlie, I don't think ey's yoyos were newly purchased, so it wouldn't have been because of bad stock, and they wouldn't be returnable.

Ey, I am so sorry to hear the rest of them died . It makes me worry since I have five yoyos myself. Do you mind if I ask if you fed the one in the 29 gallon bloodworms, too?

Just because they weren't new doesn't mean they were healthy or good quality to begin with. I haven't reviewed the earlier post on this, but I thought they said the other fish were fine?

Sorry to hear about your Yoyo's ey.

Some fish can't don't handle certain bacterial toxins all that well. Some fish have better immunities to them. Over the years I've developed an allergy to bloodworms. I can't breath around them anymore, before I had no problems with them. I don't know what it is about them, but maybe some fish are the same way.

Even if they were of the worst health (and there is no evidence of this), why did they decide to die all at once after living fine for a few months.


This makes the 3rd Yoyo dieout story this year and makes me think that there is something about Yoyo's, hopefully we'll figure out what this is.
