hilstream loach ID? HELP!

I have this hillstream loach that I am unsure of what its ID is it came with some Beaufortia levertti
Maybe a Pseudogastromyzon cheni But it does not have the bold coloring on it top dorsal fin like the ones pictured on the Pseudogastromyzon cheni Profile.*x is this something they get with more maturity?

Can anyone give me a more positive ID?

Hi Earthgodess,

Lovely looking fish but definately not a P.Cheni.
I'm not the expert that many around here are so take this with a pinch of salt, it looks very similar to a loach i recently aquired, it has been suggested that it might be a Sinogastromyzon wui. You can read the thread here.

I would agree with LES. That looks like Sinogastromyzon wui.

Possibly it could be a Sinogastromyzon wui Maybe with some more maturity the coloring seems a bit off but the markings seem good so we will see. As for settling in I have had them since early April and they all are doing great I am about to make an order for some different kinds from frank at

I actually saw a tiny S. wui today. Unfortunately, they don't come in regularly. While I have seen pure shipments of them (only once though) they almost always come in with shipments of beaufortia. About all I can recommend is that you keep checking beaufortia shipments in fish stores.

Oooh...I do, Jim. I've seen people looking at me when i have my face pushed up on the glass. At the moment, the S wui is the first thing i'm looking out for.

I was really tempted to give this guy a good home, but I resisted. The store used to be a good store, but has deteriorated so I wasn't sure whether to trust the fish. I think it was the smallest specimen of this species I have seen, just an inch in length. Most of the ones I have seen, are much larger. My two, by the way, are about 2.5 inches.
Keep looking Graeme, you are sure to find some in time. I must admit, though, I have not seen as many in the last year or so.
