Loaches in N.Y.C.

Post by adam » Fri Jan 05, 2007 7:48 pm

I went around Chinatown today and thought i would just pass on what i saw. Pacific Aquarium on Delancy has Itty Bitty Sids for 10.99 but if you buy 2 you get 1 free in this store so its a pretty good deal for a pretty rare species in these parts. They also had Kubas for 6.99. Decent size and again a good deal with the buy 2 get one free thing. They also had those Garras you guys always talk about. I think they were called Zebra Garra? Probably a generic made up type name. 19.99 each. I dont know if thats a good price or not but they looked healthy.

Prices are seemingly very variable on Garra flavatra. Mine came to me at a crazy knocked down price, but even the full retail was substantially less than the price you saw, in Canadian $ adam.

There are tremendous variables with wholesale prices, shipping etc which affect the retail ticket.

yes, well im in luck with my 55g. plans, the two most expensive fish (yoyos and pearl gouramis) are only $4 each at my lfs!!

i talked to the owner, she said that the yoyos were $8 and the pearls were $6 before, but she put them on sale..and dont worry, they'll be on sale for a few more months she says..good

now i just have to find a shop that sells bristlenoses (im not going to buy them too early, i need the tank to mature/grow algae first), im pretty sure the petcetera near me stock them..they have been good for having healthy fish, they changed managers a while back, this one actually cares..
