Suggestions for stocking a 30 gal

Post by tglassburner » Mon Feb 26, 2007 1:36 pm

I have just finished resealing a 30 gal aquarium 36"x12"x16" I am planning on incorporating loaches into the tank, I'm just not sure what type of loach or how many given this tank how would you stock it? Thanks for your input.

How about a river tank with hillstreams?
Another suggestion would be a tank for sids.

You can keep some schisturas as long as they aren't an aggressive species. Also, Martin keeps Sinobotia pulchra in with his hillstreams.
Did you have some ideas on what you might want to keep with them?

Zippers are certainly ok, I know someone who does this.

Kuhlis are ok, as long as the temp is high enough (>75F) and there are low-current areas.

Don't forget the Danios and Devarios for them upper-levels.

I would avoid mixing kuhlis and brook loaches. Kuhlis want more plants, slower water flow, and higher temperatures. Brook loaches need lots of rocks, quite high flow and generally unheated tanks - except in places where it gets quite cold. Most brook loaches are way more aggressive than any kuhli needs to deal with, IMO.

Batik loaches would work, though.
Your vantage point determines what you can see.
