You gonna help me or what?

Post by LoachOrgy » Wed Apr 04, 2007 1:36 am

So I look at the tank and I see big loach stuck in the small hole near the front of the loach motel. I felt bad but started immediately laughing. the loach was wiggling and trying to get out. i had to get a video. the video was almost out of juice so it cut out before he actually pulled him/herself out of the hole.

I was getting scared bc i saw that other post but decided to give the loach about ten minutes anyway before I offered help. at one point i could see the loaches head and eyes. i used the red light on the camera to get a better view and the loach was lookin at me like" you gonna help me or what?"

yeah, may be time to either remove the loach motel, or close that hole. He will keep trying to get in there and may not get out so easily next time. :?
books. gotta love em!

Loaches have a habit of squeezing into small spaces! I left mine for six hours before attempting a rescue. Scary business.

... springtime seems a "getting stuck season" for loaches... or what...

... was planing lots of pipes on the new tank design, ... starting to recinsider... needs most likely some chamfered openings, so it may get easier to get out than getting in... hmmmm...

the bigger loach doesn't generally come out of this hole. double o usually comes out the top larger hole. now, i did notice morpheus in there as well so i think they were playing and that is why double o went in that hole. after double o got out it didn't seem like such a tight squeeze. it was the angle.

in the u.s. they have 2" diameter pvc piping. i think the largest is 2.25" or 2 and 1/4". not sure what sizes they have in europe but my largest loach fits in them easily. double o is a big boy around 5" and quite wide but he/she seems to manage. really i used the pvc pipe fitting bc they had some nicer shapes and some rounded angles on the fitting. it makes things more interesting for the loaches if they are not able to see around the corner.
