eos vs dario

Post by newshound » Mon Apr 23, 2007 11:29 am

I had a tank go at 3am.
Moved all the fish to other tanks including some young yo yos and a mature dario to a tank housing 2 mature eos and 2 mature robusta and two young modesta.
I now have to rip that tank apart to get the dario out seeing as it is taking a real beating. I suspect the eos are nipping/biting the dario.
Seeing as the dario are tough guys I thought it would do well in that tank.
The yoyos are half the size of the dario but they are doing great in that tank.

Of most the post I have read and the time I have had Eos's I am lead to believe that they are the most anti-social of botias, they have the lowest tolerance for any other botia species and can do real damage to botias much larger than their size. They will usually go after the larger and seemably able botias before they go after smaller ones. Mine go back and forth with one of my larger Modesta. The Modesta, although not as aggressive is certainly more than able to defend themself if needed. Hope you get your queen out; she is suffering.
120 gallon planted aquaponic tank with 10 clown loachs, first one since 1994, 1 modesta and 3 striadas.

hey thanks for the reply
I had some skunks, and two large modesta in the tank before and had to move the skunks. The large modesta were fine until both jumped out the smallest hole you could imagine.
I have two small modesta now in the tank and they hang out with the eos without any problem. They seem to coexist well and same with the robusta.
I am going to move the queens tonight.
eos are some mean suckers
I wish I could get more
