sick weather loach

hi i have a weather loach who lies on the side at the bottom of the tank and makes choking movements in his throat and mouth then checking hes not dying ill gentely nudge him with the algae scrper and hes fine any reason or have i taught him to play dead lol

Does he seem like he is gasping for air? What are your water parameters, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?

How often do you preform water changes? How long have you had this tanks and the the weather loach?
