malaysian trumpet snails?

Post by libingboy » Wed Mar 22, 2006 10:25 am

i have a way of getting malaysian trumpet snails. I was thinking of using the snails to keep my quarantine tank cycled, and when they breed, feed it to clowns. however, looking at sources in the net, i get conflicting accounts as to whether clowns will eat MTSes or not. anbody have personal experience regarding this matter?

Mine eat them :)

I find empty shells all over the tank.

Yes, mine do. Yesterday I saw a little clown swimming around with one stuck to his mouth. He sucked it dry and dropped the empty shell and went on to look for more. They even dig them out of the sand to get them. They don't bother the very small ones, or the very large ones. It's the mid-size ones they go after. Maybe larger clowns will pursue larger mts, but mine aren't big enough for me to address that issue. 8)

Never seen any of mine running away. 8)

You will find them high up on the walls after lights out, but I've not seen any evidence of them leaving the water.
