Air Circulation, How Much?

Post by PitterPatti » Sat Jul 21, 2007 12:13 pm

Hi, I was wondering how gph loaches like when using powerheads?

I have a MaxiJet 1200 in the back on the side, with the head turned a little towards the glass. They often go about mid tank in the back and hang there in the current, all facing the opposite direction of the PH. I also got them a 900 and put that in opposite side but with the head slightly facing the front glass so it should make a completely circular rotation. I decided to only turn that one on too on occassion as everyone in the tank gets wild and crazy and I think they like it but am not sure........

too much current? not enough? what do you all think?

and thanks in advance!
Patti M

ps. even the corys like the current!

The question of too much too little depends to an extent on what else you keep with them. Some fish will not appreciate too much current.
If it's just loaches then what species? Most Botia like lots of current.

"Lots" in my 125 gallon Clown and other Botia species tank equates to filters and powerheads that turn over approximately 3000gph so I doubt your's are anywhere near that kind of total turnover of the tank's capacity.

Martin.
