Hey Mark,
This is my idea of a "fish-only" tank.
Ever thought of going a little more natural in your decor? It's the only thing I can suggest to improve what looks like a good tank. And kuhlis love natural - get some grass-like plants growing in there and watch the kuhlis flourish.
I don't think I can get much to grow in this tank other than low-light
(Java ferns, anubus, etc.) and floating plants. as I only have the single
flouresent light. Right now I have some Java ferns (just getting established), two potted lotus plants (every leaf and lilly pad has holes in them) and a bunch of floating Anacharis (I grow it by the truckload outside in the Koi pond) which needs replacing every month or so.
If you look at part 3 of this series of posts, you'll see my natural-looking (?) planted tank. I originally had three yo-yos in there. I got them to take care of a BAAAD pond snail outbreak. They took care of the snails within days, but were a bad fit with the tetras (too aggressive)
and they were holy terrors on the plants. What they didn't dig up they chewed holes in.
Cheers,
Batch
