Post by Mark Janssen » Thu Aug 16, 2007 2:38 am

I came across some of these in a lfs a few weeks back. I did not buy them though.

On the internet i read reports of 45cm (dutch site) but here there is speak of 25cm that is a big difference. does anyone know of any photo's of adult species?

my question is ofcourse what is the truth?

On any kind of loach info, I believe only to this site. And on this site, Weather loach max size is 9 to 10 inches = 25,4 cm.

But if you ask me, it is still way too big for aquarium, needs at least 2 more companions. 3 fishes of 20+ cm ?

I have never seen 45 cm quoted. Fishbase quotes 24.8cm and I found 30.5 cm on Wikepedia.

Searching brings up some interesting stuff:

I never realized that Fishbase has information on diseases specific to certain species...useful.

http://www.fishbase.org/Diseases/diseas ... kCode=3212

I'm adding that link to the species info on LOL.

Martin.

If i'm not mistaken, i think the European Weather loach gets quite a bit bigger than our Japanese friend ! i think 10 inches for an Anguilicaudata would be a very respectable size ! b t w has anyone here ever kept , or heard of anybody keeping M.Fossilis, i must say its a fish i'd love to try , i'm not certain, but i think it is rare in the wild ?
