Clown Loach Always dark

Post by Decepticon » Mon Nov 12, 2007 5:17 pm

Hello All

My clown loaches are always very pale and dark, and not showing much bright colours at all.

Though they are still active and eat allot.

Does anyone know why this would be?

They are around 8-10cm

I feed them blood worms and prawns

Thanks Guys

Hi and welcome to Loaches Online. :D

If all is well in your tank, and you are providing them with ideal conditions, then it could just be the way they are. Clowns that originate from Borneo often tend to fit that description, whereas Sumatran fish and those from Kalimantan are more brightly coloured.

Any chance of providing some photographs?

I've had several for 14 years or so that have always been this way and they live alongside much brighter variants, from a different origin.
