Yoyos flashing - need ideas on differential diagnosis
Moderator: LoachForumModerators
There was no way I could catch the shrimp, so I have been treating with Ruby Reef Rally - acriflavine , aminoacridine, formalin. The 3 day treatment is up this am, so I will see if it worked. so far no more flashing since the medicine was started, and the shrimp, loaches and glass cats all seen to be surviving the medicine.

A fish net can work in theory, but the shrimp are really fast and good at hiding. Catching them would require empting out all the silk plants, driftwood, etc, from the tank to find them. Last time I did this to my tank, I lost 20 fish from the stress who got severe fin rot. I don't want to do that again. A trap would have taken time, delaying treatment. From what I've been told, if you wait until the fish are acting sick with velvet, you are likely to lose then despite treatment.
