Wonderful fish! I have 3 right now in my 80 gallon. They are more active during daylight hours than most other Botiid loaches. One of my favorites.
Enjoy them! I found mine as contaminants in a shipment of modestas. How did you find yours?

I agree Mike. Very outgoing they are. 8)

These chaps actually came in as Yasuhikotakia caudipunctata. I would check with your lfs Mike, they might be able to get some in for you.

Thank Graeme. I will keep a look out for these guys. They are indeed a wonderful species. I have kept mine in a community set up with no problems for the past 3 years now. Indeed I am watching them write now as I type this. Wonderful lil guys!

I agree! These chaps seem mild mannered with the others. The other Yasuhikotakia's just ignore them.

Wonderful fish Graeme. I have 3 Y. caudipunctata at the moment and to note, mine look alot less elongated, more like a Y. modesta in shape that Y. lecontei. Definetly same coloration and the like though. Mine spar with a lone Y. eos thats in the tank but otherwise don't really bother other fish that are in there (B. striata, Arulius barbs, and red eye congo tetras).

An article is coming out in TFH regarding them so keep posted!

Y. caudipunctata is definetly one of the more interesting fish. They are one of the few members of the Yasuhikotakia genus that lie on their sides like almorhae and macracantha do.

They are also definetely alot more active during the day time than other members of their genus.

You will enjoy them immensely.
