Re: Stop the discussion about Jeff and Loaches Onlines No Re
My German is a bit rusty. Have any of those loach books on your website been translated into English?Schmerlenotto wrote:Hello together,
hope, that my english isn't to bad: I think it's time to stop this topic and not discuss why Jeff do not answer, and to go to the loaches facts. Therefore I will open a new topic. Loaches facts! Hiope my english isn't to bad.

Welcome, Gerhard!
I have a feeling Jeff is busy with other things at the moment, he certainly wouldn't mean to deliberately ignore anyone. Your fish breeding room looks wonderful, something I would like to set up someday in addition to all my main loach tanks.
Please feel free to contact any of the LOL moderators via PM or maybe as a group email and we could then discuss how best to incorporate some of your excellent work into the site.

Gerhard, welcome mate, you have to publish some of your spawnings as i am in the same game as you, i want to spawn fish that are rarely spawned.
you are a leading light in our hobby/ obsession, the more we can find out about this sp the better the hobby gets.

Hi Mark,
thanks for Your answer. It' clear, that we all are hobbyist. And I hope Jeff is well. I tried to get in conctact with the moderators, but the forum's login data don't work at the necessary login point. Now I got the e-mail of Graeme Robson and Emma Thurner and I will send the material for the species descriptions to Emma.
Thanks again and all the best to Jeff.

Welcome Gerhard with open arms. You'll note that the Moderators were absent in the early parts of this thread and that's exactly because of the reasons that Mark in Vancouver stated. We're all busy with other stuff. For my part, I had hardly looked at the Forum in days.
I've known Jeff via E-mail since 1998 and he's historically hard to get in contact with at certain times. LOL is a small part of his total life and I'm sure he's busy with other stuff at present....certainly not ignoring you.
In the early days of LOL the software used only allowed Jeff to do updates to the site so they happened in batches far apart based on when he had available time. The new site uses Plone software that allows the Moderators to have external control and provide updates whenever they have time. Jeff chose it I'm sure because he knew he could trust us to manage the day to day running of the site. His role has become that of technical backup.
I was off work for over a year at the time the site changed and this gave me the luxury of time to personally move the vast majority of content over to the site. As other Mods learned the functions they added information, articles and pictures and that's why we have so much in-depth content here. At various times because of various factors we've all taken "time out". I've done very little to the site in the last year for instance.
I think I can speak for the other Moderators here and say that we would be honoured to receive information and photographs from you. We totally exist to promote an international co-operation to spread information about these wonderful fishes. You may have seen that we have translations of some articles into other languages.
Emma forwarded your E-mails with her to all the moderators and my reaction was, "Wow!" Your interest is MOST welcome and can only add to
the quality and depth of information available on Loaches Online.
Martin.

LOL in general
Hello Martin,
many thanks. In the meantime I sent some material (Crossostoma lacustre, Schistura kohchangensis, Sabanejewia balcanica) to Emma and other.
As a non-moderator I have no problem to wait until one of the moderators will find time to include it in LOL.
In the next days I will translate an article by me on the breeding of Erromyzon sinensis for LOL.
I think LOL is the best for international information on loach topics.

Sabanejewia
Hi Piggy4,
yes Sabanejewia is a relative of Cobitis. My S. balcanica come from a hot spring in Romania (called "Petzea") and must be cared with temperature higher than 20 °C. Some years ago I have some S. aurata, which is a typical cold water species.
