Fascinating pictures. Always good to learn as much as possible about the habitats of the fish we keep - the more info the better!

Does anybody know exactly how the fish are captured? The freshly caught one in the picture looks pretty knocked out - so are we to assume that some sort of electic 'stunning' method is used?

Stunning pictures Emma and a big thank you to Miroslav.

I've always assumed that these fish were caught by electric fishing methods. I would like to think there's another way, but can't think of a logical one. One reason is the sometimes beat up appearance of hillstreams. I envision the stunned fish bouncing off rocks till caught in the net. Love to know how it's actually accomplished.

Those pics of the fish under water are fascinating. Seems they are in loose groups.

That last picture is truly amazing. I think that the more "open" the reticulations of this species, the more attractive they are. Just my opinion.
This fish looks very like the photo we saw years ago that really sparked everyone's interest in the species. Gorgeous!

Martin.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed looking through the photos. :D I am going to try and keep in contact with Miroslav as it is always useful to have contacts in these parts of Asia. At some point I will try asking again about locations etc, plus methods of catching these fish - that is if he is willing to let us in on their 'secrets' !

I also found the underwater photos very interesting. It would appear that these fish have social colonies. Just as well I've got 10 in the River Tank then!

I shall pass on all your thanks to Miroslav, and will ask him to keep in contact and send us any loachy photos/info that we'd all no doubt find fascinating.
