You guys just left out the major details of why sometimes no acclimation works.

I agree with you that if you know in advance what the bag waters starting parameters are, then you can skip acclimation, if the tank water that you put the fish in has about the same total hardness as the bag water.

pH differences won't shock the fish if the pH difference is because of the increased CO2, and not a change in kH.

edit- it's even wrong for me to use total hardness so loosely. I should of said kH and gH, and not total Hardness by itself.
